MR. RAJIUDDIN AHMED RAJU

Presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League,Janab Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju was born on 2nd February in 1944 at Adiabad Dakhin Para under Raipura upazila in Narshingdi district. His father’s name is late Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmed and mother’s name is late Ashrafun Nessa.

            His father was the President of Dhaka Bar Association and also the Leader of Opposition in the Provincial Parliament in 1963.

            Janab Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju acquired the B.A. Degree from the Jagannath College in 1966. 

            Janab Raju was actively associated with the students’ politics since his student life. He was elected V.P. of the Jagannath College Student Union for the consecutive two terms from 1964 to 1965 and 1965 to 1966. He joined the Bangladesh Awami League in 1966. Since then, he actively participated in all the pre-liberation political movements including anti-Ayub, 6-point ad mass-upsurge in 1969.  He was detained in jail in different spells for his pro and pre-liberation movements.

            He was the youngest elected member of the Provincial Assembly in 1970.

            During the Liberation War in 1971, he received CNC Special Training in Chakulia, Bihar and was also in charge of the Press and Publications Wing of the Eastern Zone. He was also the Chief Co-coordinator of the Freedom Fighters of Kaliakoir to Kishoregonj sub-division under Sector-3. 

            Janab Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju was one of the signatories of the first Constitution of Bangladesh as a Member of the then Ganoparishad after the independence.

            He was also involved in all the major democratic and political movements of Bangladesh as a fore-runner, especially during the anti-autocracy movements in the 90s.

            He was elected the Member of Parliament from Raipura, Narshingdi in 1970, 1996, 2001 and 2008 general elections. 

            He was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Commerce Ministry during 1996-2001. 

He took oath on 06/01/2009 as a Cabinet Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and has been entrusted with the charge of the Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications.

            A pro-people and dedicated politician, Janab Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju has been playing a laudable role in all out development of his area and also the socio-economic upliftment of his people.

            Janab Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju is married and is blessed with two children.
